This review is probably rare as it is to show how the stairs stand the test of time. I bought and fitted my stairs over twenty years ago and they are as good looking now as when I bought them. I brought mine to France for a cottage and French visitors ALWAYS remark about how good they look.

The team at British Spirals and Castings were first class from the first contact. I was invited to the factory, shown round the options and how they were made locally and given really good advice and guidance. After choosing the staircase they advised me and my builder what to expect snd what to do, gave personalised arrangements for transporting the staircase and were on hand by email every step of the way. At first glance when comparing prices on the internet yes, they looked a little more expensive but when I broke down the elements I realised they were not - so do your homework. From the very start when we turned up at the showroom without a appointment it has been a pleasure dealing with this company.The staff are friendly and helpful and all the stages of work went without a hitch. Having been a Joiner for 50+ years I know how some firms can be offhand and things can go wrong.I fitted the spiral staircase myself, it went like a dream and fitted perfectly, even though it is in a awkward place to get all the headroom etc.I would have no hesitation in recommending this family run company to anybody. We have a small converted cottage and with our architect were exploring ways of expanding our kitchen, by removing the existing staircase that led off the kitchen and also providing access to a new Attic room that we were creating. Our architect came up with a solution using a Spiral staircase and once our plans were approved we started researching the supply of a staircase to fit within the limited space that we have.We found British Spirals via the internet and arranged a visit to their showroom, where Richard and his team could not have been more helpful. After outlining our requirement we were shown our options within the showroom and were provided with a rough schematic of how we could make it work. We confirmed our detailed requirements, including measurements the following day and within 24 hours received a quotation for the Scandinavian design that we had settled on. We accepted the quote and from that time everything then flowed as had been outlined to us, firstly receiving detailed design models after 4-5 weeks and once confirmed, then it moved onto production and we were sent pictures of the Staircase as it was being made in the factory. Delivery happened on time and we now have the staircase installed in our redesigned kitchen and we are absolutely delighted with the quality of the stairs and the result we have achieved.Our builder, who had previous experience of sorting issues with internet sourced spirals said how impressed he was with the quality and design of the stairs and the ease with which they went together. He said if any future customers had a requirement for a Staircase he would have no hesitation in recommending British Spirals and the same applies for us.We are absolutely delighted with our experience with Richard & team, thank you

BS&C have installed a beautiful art deco style external spiral staircase for us within an extremely tricky space. They replaced a lower section of a straight staircase while always supporting the upper section. With their guidance, given over repeated site visits, we were able to make this work safely and the staircase fits to the millimeter.

It was actually a joy to place an order with this company!What a brilliant company, with brilliant products! It's ten out of ten from me, and gold stars all around. This is a very professional family business, experts at what they do, friendly, polite, with true customer service and an excellent range of quality products. As someone who rarely writes reviews, I’m compelled to break tradition due to the outstanding customer service and quality of workmanship provided by British Spirals and Castings.BSC created a bespoke spiral staircase to replace an existing and much lesser quality product. Richard made a personal visit to my London home to measure up and recommend best specifications to suit the available space whilst conforming to all building regulations.Six months later, I am the proud owner of an exquisitely finished and millimetre perfect solution that even made use of the original base mounting point of the old staircase.A special note of thanks to Kostas and his team for the installation. Such professionalism, dedication to detail, cleanliness and a clear pride in their work was a breath of fresh air. For me, the installation process is as important as the product itself so I cannot recommend Kostas enough. He is a true gent!For anyone considering British Spirals and Castings for their project, rest assured that you will not find a better combination of traditional craftsmanship, attention to detail and exemplary customer service.

We are absolutely delighted with our bespoke balcony and spiral stairs. The quality and detail in the metalwork is superb. This was a very complex project involving a unique design on a grade 2* listed building without a single square wall. Richard, Ben and team were responsive and helpful throughout the process. BSC produced a cast iron spiral stair for a major refurbishment of a Georgian farm house. I cannot recommend BSC highly enough. From design through manufacture to delivery Richard and Ben have been thoughtful, innovative and responsive. The product is outstanding and the service first class. Embarking on the search for a bespoke spiral staircase was a daunting prospect. I had zero experience in this area and knew a mistake would be costly, and painful.I searched online for weeks and eventually found three suitable suppliers, two in London and British Spirals & Castings. Immediately the responsiveness and level of detail from Ben gave me comfort that they were were experienced and motivated to help. He made the whole design and quoting process so simple, when the quote came back around half the price of the other two companies, it was a no brainer.Now the stairs are installed, around 4 months from point of first contact I can firmly say I made the right choice. Ben, Richard and Joe were remarkably patient throughout the process, and were a lovely family business to deal with. The installation team were brilliant, friendly, respectful, punctual and a credit to the company.I'm delighted with the outcome and more than happy to provide references for anyone considering working with BS&C. The first real family business I've come across: I was first helped by Richard and later his daughter, Antonia, finished our order. Both were friendly and incredibly helpful throughout: Richard even sourced a stonemason for us when ours fell through. Communication throughout was easy and speedy. Diagrams of the project were provided so we could fully understand every detail of the project. Their installation team, led by Kostas, had to reinforce our wall so that the railings would stay in place -this to correct another company's shoddy work - but they did so without complaint and for no extra money. They have transformed our front garden and we recommend them without hesitation.

I would thoroughly recommend BSC and I am delighted with the service I received from start to finish. My project required a spiral stair to a first floor level concrete balcony, plus balustrade for the balcony. The project took about 4 years from start to finish, and BSC were involved for most of that time. At all times, Ben Harding at BSC was very helpful in providing advice, plus specifications and drawings for the building warrant application. The finished stair kit arrived in perfect condition and on time, and assembly proved to be straightforward. One small error in fabrication of a baluster railing was rectified and the correct part delivered within 24 hours. The completed stair and balustrade are of high quality and look terrific. Altogether, I am very pleased with this company and their product and would recommend them without hesitation.

BSC supplied me with a Victorian Spiral staircase which has now been installed and looks stunning and very authentic. I am extremely pleased with the product and the entire experience of dealing with BSC has been a pleasure from the beginning to the end of the project. Ben has provided guidance on how to ensure the staircase fits perfectly, took the time to show me their products in person in their workshop, answered multiple (and I really mean very many) questions from me and my builders patiently and thoroughly, designed the staircase to our specifications, provided customised solution for the nosing/edging- nothing was too much trouble.The end product is stunning, the delivery was on schedule with a lovely, friendly driver who carried the pieces in with our help, the service was fantastic.I am hoping to use BSC again this time for some balconies.Would highly recommend BSC to anyone who appreciates attention to detail and quality of design and product.

This firm is the opposite of 'jobsworth', whatever that is. Everything I asked of them, it was an immediate "Can do!". Helpful, friendly and local (for me). They produce a bespoke, high quality product at a reasonable price. You may find what you're looking for a bit cheaper (or not) elsewhere but you'll regret it. It won't be this quality. Timing is always a problem with bespoke but they kept me advised every step of the way and it was unnecessary for me to chase them. Before delivery they put my steps together as a 'dry run' to check fit and sent me photos of how it was put together - very useful. Construction was a breeze and the finished effect is exactly what I wanted. I cannot praise this family run firm highly enough. Well done!

I've just had a cast-iron Victorian balcony fitted outside my bedroom French windows to replace a small Juliet balcony. When I first wanted to do this I didn't know where to start. Many firms didn't seem very interested. Some would make it but not fit it.When I finally found BS & C from the beginning they were very helpful. They guided me through the choices, types, designs, construction and safety.The team who installed it were excellent. They helped out with things outside their domain such as moving lights that were in the way etc.They couldn't have been nicer or more friendly.If you want to undertake a project like this and are a little nervous, go with this company!

This firm contributed to a reconstruction of the front approach to our Victorian house in a conservation area in Highgate, North London. They were very nice to deal with. They provided and installed handrails for two lots of steps, and a Victorian-style balustrade. The products were of excellent quality, they did all the work to a very high standard, and we are delighted with the result..

I recently had a cast iron stair rail made and fitted to my period home. The stairs are narrow and not quite straight which meant that a lot of work had to be done on site. They also had to meet local building regulations (with which they were familiar) and it was done absolutely correctly. I was was truly delighted with the professionalism, service and quality of the work done and the stair rail (which matches the period of the property) look wonderful and has had many admirers from the local community.This is well-organised family business who know what they are doing, respond quickly and and charge a very fairly. I would highly recommend them for any wrought iron or steel work that you want done.
